Why Bookfair Exists
Every semester, thousands of college students waste hours trying to buy and sell textbooks. They scroll through chaotic social media groups, send dozens of DMs, and still don't know if a book is actually available.
Campus book fairs help, but they only happen once or twice a semester. If you miss it, you're back to comment-thread chaos or paying full price at the bookstore.
This shouldn't be so hard.
Bookfair exists to make textbook buying and selling simple, organized, and stress-free. We believe students deserve better tools—tools that respect their time, reduce friction, and just work.

About the Founder
Hi, I'm Matthew, a linguist turned software engineer who experienced the textbook chaos firsthand during college.
I watched students (including myself) waste hours in campus buy/sell groups, miss out on books because of comment chaos, and pay way too much at the bookstore because finding used books was too painful.
I built Bookfair because I knew there had to be a better way. Not a fancy marketplace with unnecessary features—just a simple, organized platform that does exactly what students need: help them buy and sell textbooks without the stress.
I care about the student experience, not extracting fees. Bookfair is designed to be helpful, not profitable at your expense.

What We Don't Do
We don't charge transaction fees. You set your price, you keep your money.
We don't sell your data. Your privacy matters. Period.
We don't handle payments or shipping. You arrange pickup and payment directly with the other person. We're a platform, not a middleman.
We don't spam you. Notifications are relevant and helpful—nothing more.
